For the second Episode of Off the Track with John W. Davis, my guest is none other than sophomore hurdler Ronnie Ash of Bethune Cookman University. In March 2009, Ash became his Bethune’s first ever national champion at the NCAA Indoor Championship meet in College Station, Texas. He earned his title winning the 60m Hurdles in 7.63 seconds.
In this interview Ash spoke about his journey from high school to college. He has gone from a 14.x runner to mid 13’s seemingly overnight. He also touched on the faith that his coach Garfield Ellenwood put in him.
Ellenwood offered him a full scholarship when other schools hardly looked Ash’s way.
On Saturday, May 16th, Ash will step on the track at the Adidas Track Classic in Carson, California. This will truly be a test for Ronnie and a great chance for a PR, as he will hurdler with a world-class field.
Tune into Off the Track with John W. Davis, exclusively on PreRaceJitters.com, on the 1st and 15th of every month.
